Men's Health

Men over 50 — or over 45 with a family history — should consider prostate assessment. Dr Wander can discuss the pros and cons of PSA testing with you.

Absolutely. All consultations are private and confidential, and Dr Wander's approach is discreet and non-judgemental.

Women's Health

Yes. Dr Wander assesses menopausal symptoms and discusses management options including HRT, tailored to your health and preferences.

Cervical screening and gynaecological assessments are available, with onward referral to specialists where required.

Children's Health

Same-day private appointments are often available. Contact the practice and the team will do their best to see your child promptly.

Dr Wander cares for children of all ages, from babies through to teenagers, drawing on extensive paediatric and A&E experience.

Mental Health

That's completely normal. You don't need to have the answers — Dr Wander will listen, help you make sense of how you're feeling and suggest a way forward.

Yes. Where it would help, Dr Wander can arrange onward referral to counselling and specialist mental health services.

Dr Wander offers an initial consultation to discuss your concerns, review your history and talk through the options. He does not perform the formal diagnostic assessment himself, but will refer you on to a trusted specialist who can carry out the full assessment and, where appropriate, initiate treatment.

Well Man / Well Woman

The consultation and examination take around 30 minutes. Blood results follow shortly afterwards, along with your written report.

Your blood panel is tailored to you but typically covers cholesterol, diabetes, blood count, kidney, liver and thyroid function, and PSA for men.

Cosmetic Medicine

No. Cosmetic consultations are exactly that — a consultation. Dr Wander will only recommend a treatment if it is clinically appropriate, and it is entirely your decision whether to proceed.

Treatments aim for subtle, natural improvements. Dr Wander will explain what is realistic in your case; no outcomes or timelines can be guaranteed and individual responses vary.

Weight Loss

Not at all. Medication is only one part of the picture and is only offered when it is clinically appropriate and you wish to consider it. Many patients do very well with lifestyle-focused plans alone.

Where clinically suitable and after appropriate assessment, GLP-1 medications can be discussed and prescribed privately, with structured follow-up to monitor safety and progress.

Travel Health & Vaccinations

Ideally 6–8 weeks before travel, as some vaccinations need time to take effect or require a course. Last-minute appointments are still worthwhile — advice and some protection is better than none.

Yellow fever is only available at designated centres. Dr Wander can advise whether you need it and direct you to an appropriate yellow fever centre.

Minor Surgery & Skin Lesions

No. Dr Wander assesses the lesion and, where treatment or removal is required, refers you on to an appropriate specialist such as a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

Referrals are typically arranged promptly through the private specialist network at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth, so most patients are seen within a short time.

Chronic Disease Management

Yes. With your consent, Dr Wander is happy to work alongside your NHS GP or hospital specialists, sharing letters and results to ensure joined-up care.

This depends on the condition and how stable it is. Most patients are seen every 3–12 months for review, with more frequent contact when starting or adjusting treatment.

Sexual Health & Contraception

Yes. All sexual health consultations are private and confidential. Nothing is shared with anyone else without your explicit consent.

Dr Wander can advise on all contraceptive options and prescribe pills and emergency contraception. Coil and implant fitting is referred to specialist colleagues where required.

Executive Health Screening

Allow around 60–90 minutes for the consultation, examination and on-site investigations. Blood results are usually available within a few working days.

Yes — fasting for around 10 hours before the appointment gives the most accurate cholesterol and glucose results. Water is fine.

Cardiovascular Health Check

Yes. Many cardiovascular risk factors are silent. A check is especially worthwhile if you have a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes or raised cholesterol.

Yes. If the assessment suggests further investigation, Dr Wander can arrange rapid access to cardiology imaging and specialist opinion at St John & St Elizabeth.

Allergy Testing & Management

An allergy involves the immune system (usually IgE) and can cause rapid symptoms, whereas an intolerance is typically a delayed reaction not mediated by the immune system. The distinction matters because testing and management differ.

IgG-based food-intolerance panels sold direct-to-consumer are not scientifically validated. Dr Wander uses evidence-based testing and interprets results alongside your clinical history.

Vaccinations & Immunisations

Yes. Private childhood vaccinations, including catch-up schedules and non-NHS vaccines such as chickenpox, are available.

Yes. You will receive a written vaccination record with dates, batch numbers and product details that your NHS GP can add to your notes.
