Allergy Testing & Management

Investigation and management of common allergies

Laboratory blood sample tubes for allergy testing

Dr Wander sees patients with suspected food, environmental, seasonal and drug allergies, taking a careful history to guide investigation and treatment.

Blood tests for specific IgE allergens can be arranged through the hospital laboratory, and results are interpreted in the context of your symptoms.

Where skin-prick testing, oral challenges or specialist immunology input are required, Dr Wander refers directly to allergy consultants at St John & St Elizabeth.

From £150 for the consultation. Specific IgE panels, skin-prick testing and specialist immunology referrals are charged separately.

Frequently Asked

What is the difference between an allergy and an intolerance?

An allergy involves the immune system (usually IgE) and can cause rapid symptoms, whereas an intolerance is typically a delayed reaction not mediated by the immune system. The distinction matters because testing and management differ.

Are commercial food-intolerance tests reliable?

IgG-based food-intolerance panels sold direct-to-consumer are not scientifically validated. Dr Wander uses evidence-based testing and interprets results alongside your clinical history.
